My Story, and My Goal with this site

In 2000, I was born in Tucson, AZ. From an early age, I enjoyed taking things apart and trying to understand how and why they operate the way they do - I would take apart alarm clocks, transistor radios, flashlights, and anything else that my single screwdriver (a PH#0 that my dad probably never found again) could fit into. I enjoyed playing with LEGO, and spent endles hours arranging the pieces according to the instructions, only to take them apart and reassemble into intricate space-age playgrounds for my mind to wander.

After playing with several plug-in-play circuit kits, I realized that electricity was fascinating and powerful, and I wanted to understand how it worked. More importantly, I wanted to be able to explain how and why it worked to others. Only in my recent years at university have I realized that electricity and magnetism truly form the foundations of the universe that we interact with on a daily basis, and now I can't look anywhere without seeing the effects of electricity and magnetism - quite literally, since light is simply a self-propagating wave of the same fields that can be used to make current flow through a lightbulb or make the speaker in your phone oscillate in space! Throughout my academic experience, I've found that explaining a topic makes it so much more tangible in my own mind than simply reading facts and regurgitating them.

I hope to be a lifelong learner, and more importanly, a lifelong teacher. I hope to use this site not only to show my personal experience and proof of what I have learned to do with my knowledge and experience, but as a tool and resource for others to learn and apply the rules of physics in order to create some very cool things.

"You can't teach experience."

This was an off-handed statement made by a student in highschool a few years ahead of me while I was volunteering for the school's technical theatre club my sophomore year of highschool. It has changed my life permanently, and that statement continues to influence my decisions on a daily basis.
